Mary Jeanne Tufano is an experienced mediator and arbitrator across a wide range of sectors, with an extensive background in labor and employment matters.  Mary Jeanne is committed to helping parties work constructively with conflict to resolve differences through mediation and to bring closure to disputes through fair arbitration and adjudicatory processes.  

Mary Jeanne has had a dispute resolution practice since 2001 and currently provides arbitration, mediation and facilitation services to both private parties and government agencies.  In addition to The Mediation Group, Mary Jeanne serves on several panels, including the American Arbitration Association and the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service.  Mary Jeanne divided her time between Oxford, England and Cambridge, Massachusetts for a number of years and provided workplace and community mediation services through Oxford Mediation and Resolve Mediation while in the UK.  Mary Jeanne has mediated and arbitrated disputes involving workplace, labor and employment, small claims, landlord-tenant, neighbor, construction, personal injury and commercial matters.

Prior to developing her dispute resolution practice, Mary Jeanne served as an Administrative Law Judge with the Massachusetts Labor Relations Commission and as an attorney in a private law practice, in which she represented, advised and trained employees and unions on labor and employment issues, including health and safety, wage and hour, disability and discrimination issues. Mary Jeanne also served as a Special Assistant Attorney General for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, where she represented the state in litigation and administrative hearings to enforce employment, health and safety and public construction statutes. She also worked for several years in a business litigation practice, representing clients in contract, unfair trade practice, employment, intellectual property, civil rights and real estate disputes.

Mary Jeanne received a B.A. from Wellesley College as a Wellesley Scholar, and a J.D. from New York University School of Law.  In addition, she completed a Graduate Certificate Program in Dispute Resolution at the University of Massachusetts Boston and has received a National Certificate in Workplace Mediation with Total Conflict Management Group in London.
